Don't Sleep: Week Two

Written by Jesse Potes on .

Here we go again! Before we go into who my under-owned pickups are for week 2, let’s take a look at how my predictions did last week. Points are based on standard ESPN non-PPR league.

Quarterbacks From Week One
Ryan Fitzpatrick (BUF) - 17-25 passing, 208 passing yards, 4 touchdowns, no INTs, 24 fantasy points
Matt Hasselbeck (TEN) - 21-34 passing, 263 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 INT, 16 fantasy points
Chad Henne (MIA) – 30-49 passing, 416 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 INT, 59 yards rushing, 1 rushing touchdown, 33 fantasy points
We did very well at the quarterback position this week from a fantasy perspective. Even though only one of my choices at QB actually won their game (Fitzpatrick), all three did a great job in fantasyland. The big winner from this group is obviously Henne, who had the second most fantasy points of any quarterback this week losing out only to Tom Brady. Showing a surprising ability to get outside the pocket and make plays with his feet didn’t hurt either. Fitzpatrick was also a fantasy star this weekend, throwing four touchdown passes and not throwing an interception in a huge upset win over the Chiefs in KC. Hasselbeck was not spectacular, but he did well enough to prove he is more than capable of a spot start in fantasy leagues during a bye week.

Find out how we did in other predictions and discover which other sleepers are worth gambling on this week after the jump:

It excites me to be joining the team at Sons of Roto! First off, I would like to take a moment to officially introduce myself to you readers. My name is Jesse and I am from Washington State (not DC). I am currently enrolled at Central Washington University and am competing in collegiate Track & Field. Sports are my passion and I hope I can be a positive addition to this website. Okay, enough of that crap. Let’s get started on what we really came here to do. I know many of you have already drafted, so I am here to give you some under-owned skill position players at each position that should be picked up in more leagues. Percentage owned based on ESPN leagues.

On the heels of a report that both Ryan Grant and James Starks will “get an equal amount of rushing attempts Thursday night against New Orleans,” it became evident that your boy had to put out a “Beef: The Series” concerning the supposed RB committee in Green Bay.

Hope you haven’t eaten yet, because you’re about to get your face filled with a whole mess of “Beef.”

MiLB Prospect Rankings: Middle Infield

Due to the number of recent promotions (Dustin Ackley, Jason Kipnis, Dee Gordon, Jemile Weeks, Jose Altuve, Johnny Giavotella and Chase D’Arnaud) most of the top middle infield prospects are in the Low Minors. The youngest top prospects are usually shortstops. This position also has the highest percentage of international players. There is a significant drop-off in talent around #40 in my 2B/SS rankings. With that being said, you could argue that any 2B/SS prospect ranked in in the #26-#39 range should have been ranked in the Top 25. But these are my rankings, so here is my Top 25:

The rumor mills are swirling out of control in regards to Peyton Manning and I’m compelled to post something and aid my loyal readers (both of you). Will he play Week 1? Will he miss one or two games, four or five games, perhaps even more? Does he need additional neck surgery, putting his season in jeopardy? Can his tears cure cancer and his smile end world hunger? The fact of the matter is that none of us know exactly when Manning will return because both Manning and the Colts are very secretive with injury information. It’s a pain in the ass for the fantasy community, but in reality it’s smart for the Colts to remained tight-lipped and keep the opposition in the dark. With little incentive for the Colts to keep us all informed on the specifics of Manning’s condition, what actionable information can we take from all the rumors? Well readers, that’s where I come in. Let’s try to shed some light on this cloudy situation.
