The Brown Bomber

Written by Andrew on .

Prospecting for 2011...

Domonic Brown is that special someone atop my watch list. I often find myself saying, “Sit on my face” in robotic voices when day dreaming about the Phillies Outfielder. Domonic, which I prefer to pronounce as Demonic, may very well be the main character in a J.P. Alex created video game and anyone who doesn’t want a piece of him in 2011 should be labeled as a Grandma’s Boy. The power/speed threat was the Phillies No.1 ranked prospect coming into this season and he should slide into an everyday role when Jayson Werth and his beard hit the free agent market this coming off season. Domonic has all the tools to become a superb fantasy option and the Philadelphia lineup/ballpark is a great environment to find big time production. Brown has power, speed and a good eye at the plate. He also has a track record of producing an above average BABIP, so if his strikeout rate is hovering near 30%, he should still be able to produce a respectable Batting Average. Splitting 93 minor league games between AA and AAA this season, Brown hit 20 HR and stole 17 bases before being promoted to the big leagues. He hit .318 in AA (65 games) and .346 in AAA (28 games). Brown has struggled a bit since his promotion, but he is far too talented to worry about the small sample size. He is getting his feet wet (he only played 28 games in AAA) and the poor numbers (.229 AVG, 2 HR, SB) only helps us get him at a cheaper price in 2011. Listen to my main man Dante, if you don’t draft the Brown Bomber, you may end up shitting your pants.

H2H BBall Playoffs

Written by Andrew on .

I didn't want to post this until I drafted my H2H basketball team, but what the hell... you can say you heard it here first. Make sure to target Chicago players in your H2H basketball leagues (especially in auction drafts, no reaching involved). The Bulls play 14 games during our playoffs with 7 of those games being played during NBA slow days. If you want to eliminate as much luck as possible during those crucial weeks, you'll want to be able to field as many players as you can down the stretch. With the Bulls, you get the most games and you get them on the most important days. More H2H playoff scheduling after the jump.

Tiny Tim

lincecum

What the heck is going on with that son of a Bob Cratchit? Trench Foot Timmy has been pitching like Mitch Kramer... if Mitch Kramer had rickets. Today is the trade deadline in my H2H dynasty league and instead of whooping dat ass with the Soul Pole, I packaged Lincecum and Strasburg in a deal for Jon Lester. Make the jump to see my opinions on Lincecum's troubles, future prospects and why I made the deal.

Sleeper Podcast (Repost)

Written by Andrew on .

The Million Dollar Podcast is back! It's been awhile since I've hosted a show, what better time than now. I plan on doing at least two shows before the season starts. The first will cover "sleepers" and we'll be welcoming the boisterous Brad Evans. The term "sleeper" can mean many different things to many different people. The Noise and I will be professing our love for those who are undervalued, under the radar and under appreciated. Basically anyone who can return a great deal of value at their ADP or average auction price. We'll try to keep the bromances for LeSean McCoy and Arian Foster at tolerable levels. The list of players that I would like to discuss is much too long for a one hour show, so I'm going to omit a few players who were put under the spotlight by BFun and Brad in the following videos:

Michael Bush, Arian Foster

Laurence Maroney, Ben Roethlisberger, Mike Williams, Heath Miller

Montario Hardesty blog post at Roto Arcade

I'll likely make references to Brad's positional ranks which can be found here

The LIVE show is scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 PM central

I've been playing around at ValueTownFantasy lately. Great place to create rankings, whether you want to do it bigboard style or bust out the positional tiers. You can also create multiple lists for your standard formats and PPR settings. It's easy, clean and you can print them out for use during your drafts. You can even name the Tiers, as you can see in the above picture. I've been posting PPR rankings around here lately, so I put together some tiered rankings for standard scoring settings. Check them out and go create your own.

The Sleepers Podcast featuring Brad Evans has been pushed back again. Relax, it's OK. The show has been rescheduled for Thursday and this time it's set in stone. If not, I'll refund your money back, no questions asked.

Wednesday is still podcast day for MDS though. You can get your audio fix by coming over to Starbonell Station for the Wide Receiver Extravaganza Show. The LIVE show starts at 7:00 PM Central and the call-in number is (347) 324-3827. Feel free to pick the brains of the finest fantasy footballers out there. Don't worry, Arthur Starbonelli is cool, he can even tell you how fix your motorcycle and make a jukebox play music without forfeiting any money. Friday we'll be doing the Running Back Edition, I believe that will be at 4:00 PM.

Hipster Grifter

I'm sure we're all familiar with the Sidney Rice story. He hurt his hip in the NFC Championship Game, two out of three doctors recommended surgery, he opted for the rehab route and here we are:

WR Sidney Rice confirmed he had hip surgery in Vail, Colo. on Monday in a text message to the Star-Tribune.

Rice is expected to miss half the season. Hopefully no one has drafted any teams yet, but we all know that is not the case. Even I, the great MDS, participated in one draft in JULY and of course, I drafted Sidney Rice... and Brett Favre. My season is already over!!! Just kidding. The injury news has repercussions for everyone involved so we might as well discuss. Make the jump.

Fantasy Foolsball Notes

The Sleeper Podcast with Brad Evans has been pushed back to Wednesday, that's not set in stone either. Brad and BFun will be hosting a fantasy football camp in Portland today (note the poser doing the tough guy stance for the pic). A fantasy football camp hosted by those two and sponsored by a beer company sounds like fun. After the jump you can find updated rankings, draft results/notes from an 18 team auction draft that went down last night.
